May 12 -13 Tracks and Scat of Brown Canyon by Jessica Lamberton
A unique educational weekend workshop hosted by FOBANWR and featuring wildlife biologist Jessica Lamberton of Sky Island Alliance. Jessica has a Bachelors degree in Wildlife, Watershed, and Rangeland Management from the University of Arizona’s School of Natural Resources and is Track & Sign I Certified though CyberTracker Conservation International. Since 2004, she has attained training and experience in wildlife research, particularly with wild cats using non-invasive monitoring techniques, including remote camera studies and wildlife tracking. With Sky Island Alliance, Jessica has served 5 years as a biologist for ocelot and jaguar monitoring in Sonora, Mexico. She has filled the role of Wildlife Linkages Program Coordinator for 2 years where she currently trains and engages volunteer naturalists, conducts scientific research and ground-truthing, promulgates policy, and advocates for protection and connection of wildlife movement corridors in the Sky Island region. Some Archaeology of Southern Arizona and the Altar Valley
A memorable educational weekend workshop hosted by the Friends of Buenos Aires NWR and featuring archaeologist Allen Dart, RPA. Allen has a Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology from the University of New Mexico and a Master’s Degree in anthropology from the University of Arizona. He has worked and volunteered as a professional archaeologist in New Mexico and Arizona since 1975, for government, private companies, and nonprofit organizations. He is employed full-time as a principal investigator in the Tucson office of EcoPlan Associates, Inc., an environmental and cultural resources consulting firm. He also works part-time as the Executive Director of Tucson’s nonprofit Old Pueblo Archaeology Center, which he founded in 1993 to provide educational and scientific programs in archaeology and culture. He also has led programs and has donated volunteer time to schools and to other archaeology and history organizations. A Registered Professional Archaeologist, he is a recipient of the Arizona Governor’s Award in Public Archaeology for his efforts to bring archaeology and history to the public. Along with three luscious meals, we’ll get to leisurely enjoy the nature and beauty of Brown Canyon while learning some fascinating local archaeological facts from Allen in two formal slide presentations.
